Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign has collaborated with Our Parks to produce a report titled “Inspiring more inclusive physical activity interventions” based on their Couch to Fitness programme. This free nine-week exercise programme, aimed at beginners, was designed to address the inequalities in sport and physical activity participation.

The programme was developed to help people build confidence in their ability to be active from home. Workouts are available online and on-demand and are specifically curated to target culturally diverse communities and lower socio-economic groups.

Born Barikor, founder of Our Parks, emphasised that Couch to Fitness has been instrumental in making physical activity more accessible by removing barriers that prevent people from getting started. The programme focuses on creating a sense of community and belonging among participants.

The report offers tips in various areas, including digital product development, community building and targeted marketing. It’s designed to be valuable for professionals in sport and physical activity, charity and voluntary sectors, healthcare, and marketing.

While the report doesn’t guarantee success, it aims to spark conversations and creativity for organisations developing their own interventions. Additionally, Our Parks is offering webinar sessions in September and October to share more about the findings.
