Leisure DB Report sees swimming pool prices break the £5 mark for the first time

The annual State of the UK Swimming Industry Report from Leisure DB has found that the average price of an adult swim has topped £5 for the first time. Whilst swimming lessons have reached record levels, providers have increased prices to reflect the true operating costs for swimming pools.

Findings show the industry is starting to accept the need to charge more for swimming. The UK’s number one private sector pool operator has now become the largest pool operator in the country, with GLL taking the top spot in the public sector.

Pool numbers have however decreased in the 12 months of the research period. Between 2019 and 2022, open pools fell by 5.1% compared to the 1.8% between 2022 and 2023.

Top providers like Aquababies and Puddle Ducks, offering the best in quality swim activities and lessons, can be found on The Drive Phase podcast. Get a personalised view of the swim sector from the founders and CEOs at the centre of these businesses.
