For the first time, mental health and wellbeing in the fitness and physical activity industry will be surveyed across the workforce in the UK.

Unsurprisingly, the industry has been largely focussing on keeping jobs during the pandemic. CIMPSA CEO Tara Dillon, sees this survey as new way to focus on understanding an industry; that despite its resilience, has been hard hit by Covid-19.

The institute, which supports the development of sports and activities professionals within the activities industry, has partnered with Workplace Mental Wealth, to design and manage a short questionnaire.

It’s aimed at all those that work in fitness, across supply, education and support, in addition to those working in fitness and leisure.

The survey will look at the current capacity of industry employers to offer mental health support. Founders of Workplace Mental Wealth, Katie Lewis and Lindsey Simpson will be establishing the current capacity to provide mental health support within organisations.

The benchmark survey will be a stepping stone to producing a better understanding of mental health in the sports and activities industry for employees and organisations.
