Leaders from the Sport for Development Coalition have committed to demonstrating how they are collectively working to achieve global sustainability goals and national policy objectives.

The coalition, comprising over 50 supporter organisations and partners such as DCMS and Sport England, aims to align individual objectives and outcomes within the #OpenGoal Shared Advocacy Framework.

This commitment is in response to the United Nations report that the world is only 15% towards achieving its Sustainable Development Goals at the halfway stage of its Agenda 2030. The coalition’s focus on collective action is intended to accelerate sport’s contribution to sustainable development and build a more enabling environment for investment in the ‘sport for change’ sector.

The #OpenGoal framework binds the coalition together in collective action, with a strong commitment from partners to bring sustainability to the forefront of their strategic planning.

The coalition’s mission is to enhance global partnerships for sustainable development and strengthen financial resources, investments, and expertise to build a sustainable world in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
