Sport for Development Coalition has enlisted some star sportspeople to encourage policymakers to invest in sport for development. They’ve made key recommendations to encourage the government to capitalise on the sport’s contribution to tackling inequality.
The 400-member coalition marked the UN’s International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and the publication of their first annual report. Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, Susie Rogers MBE and Jobi McAnuff have all put their names and support to the campaign.
The 20-page report details coalition members describing how sport and physical activity-based interventions can impact communities. They discuss the importance of reducing crime and unemployment and improvements in educational attainment and physical and mental health.
