ReTrain to Retain has been developed with the express purpose of supporting 50,000 sports coaches, volunteers, fitness professionals, and group exercise instructors who have sought work outside of the sector due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It aims to keep as many professionals as possible in the sector or provide them with the necessary skills to return to the sector.
In addition, it provides additional skills and funding with support available for up to 5000 self-employed professionals and micro-businesses. The program is part of a £5m job retention and support scheme, funded by Sport England through the National Lottery to help strengthen the sector by addressing skills shortages and funding essential training.
Applications are now open, and anyone working in paid or a volunteer capacity in England can apply for training, funding, and support. The initiative will be delivered by CIMSPA, alongside UK Coaching and EMD UK.
Applications opened on the 2nd of September.
