Bike Week is an annual celebration delivered by Cycling UK to showcase how great cycling is. Running from the 30th May to the 5th June, the theme this year is health and wellbeing.
Cycling is an excellent way to keep fit and active and can help boost your immunity and improve your mood. In today’s world, it’s a useful eco-friendly and pandemic-friendly way to get around.
Bike Week will be launching with the World’s Biggest Bike Ride as well as with virtual opportunities to take part in the #7daysofcycling challenge. Use the challenge as a way to get fit, explore new challenges outdoors, and reunite with family and friends.
Here are a few facts to get you started:
- Cycling every day can lower your risk of developing cancer by 45%
- Cycling regularly into adulthood will give a boost to your fitness of someone 10 years younger
- If all cycle journeys increased by just 2% from the current level, by 2050 the collective benefit would be a massive £248bn
