Bikeability has announced its October Update, taking stock of new training and development opportunities, events, partnerships and initiatives. As a new government lays out its plans, Bikeability are planning new opportunities for Bikeability training, its partners, and recognition in the physical activity sector and beyond.
New instructor training
Bikeability will develop a new pilot course for adult lessons, aimed at adults who can’t ride a bike. Additionally, a new course aimed at teaching children with additional needs is now in progress with plans to support children with disabilities or other learning difficulties more fully.
Recognition & partnerships
Continuing their bid to advocate for the importance of cycling and cycling training, Bikeability are being recognised for their work. Bikeability participated in the Labour and Conservative Party conferences. They also received the Cycle Advocacy Award at the 2023 Cycling Weekly Awards.
This October also saw a partnership with British Cycling, which aims to create a clear pathway from learning to ride to competitive cycling. The collaborations with British Cycling and discussions with Cycling UK will also be part of its ongoing commitment to bringing greater diversity and inclusion to cycling.
