Businesses that have been severely impacted can now apply for grants under the ARG scheme from their local councils.
The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) is designed to support businesses that may not be part of business rates systems.
Support is determined by local councils who can set the eligibility criteria based on those businesses that have the capacity to support them.
Activities businesses are very well-placed to help provide HAF care as well as support young people in safe, guided sports instruction.
The basic eligibility criteria are:
- businesses that do not pay business rates
- businesses that have not received wider grant support
- businesses from all sectors that have been severely impacted by restrictions
The scheme is covered by subsidy allowances that may be combined for a total allowance of more than £10 million, subject to exchange rates.
These allowances include the Small Amounts of Financial Assistance Allowance, the COVID-19 Business Grant Allowance, and the COVID-19 Business Grant Special Allowance.
The allowances are subject to limitations and will only be rewarded where all conditions are met.
