The Big Walk and Wheel is back for another year – Join the event with hundreds of schools from the 20th to the 31st of March!
The biggest inter-school active travel event is back, encouraging walking, wheeling, scooting, and cycling to school. The competition encourages primary schools, secondary schools, and specialist SEN, ASN, and ALN schools to take part in active travel, competing against each other for rewards.
The Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel inspires pupils towards carbon-neutral activities. Children and their families are encouraged to make journeys to school for ten days to improve their neighbourhood air quality and congestion. Resources are provided on the Sustrans website to help children and young people understand the benefits of active travel.
Free to get involved, for each day of the challenge schools are entered into a prize draw. The highest percentage of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting, or cycling to school will be entered into the draw against other schools. A school’s best five days will determine their final ranking.
Schools can log their best five days, or log all ten days to be in a chance of winning prizes for their school.
