CIMSPA has partnered with Aspire to provide a better platform for inclusive training aimed at disabled people. They have collaboratively launched the EmployAbility Leisure initiative to offer accessible, inclusive training in workplaces for the leisure sector.
Despite 20% of the British working-age population being classed as disabled, just over half (52%) are employed. The current trend gives the impression that those working in the leisure sector may be similarly negative.
Aspire, the charity and community leisure operator, has produced three guides for the industry. The aim is to support the industry in attracting and hiring more disabled people to the workforce. This comes as their successful ‘InstructAbility’ programme has helped hundreds of disabled people become qualified fitness professionals.
The three guides available are in the following areas:
- Training and working in the fitness and leisure sector
- Training disabled learners in the fitness and leisure sector
- Employing disabled people in the fitness and leisure
