Last month, Youth Sport Trust celebrated the teachers and leaders who made school sport possible over the last 18 months. At the annual conference in Coventry, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The event recognised the work of schools and the sector in promoting physical activity.
The night saw awards given to a host of actors in the sector who had inspired PE, sport, and physical activity in schools. The conference was hosted by former Paralympic swimmer Kate Grey and broadcaster and retired sprinter Jeanette Kwakye MBE. Seven-time Paralympian Hannah Cockcroft shared her journey to becoming a competitive athlete via video link.
Ali Oliver MBE, Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust, commented on the nine awards given on that day, saying:
“The Youth Sport Trust would like to congratulate all the winners of our Inspiring Changemaker Awards 2022. They have each demonstrated a huge commitment to the central role of play, sport, and physical education in young people’s recovery from the consequences of the pandemic – using it to build back wellbeing and accelerate academic progress.”
