SLQ Sports Leaders has announced a new qualification aimed at providing an accredited programme of ‘competitive school sport’ and sports leadership opportunities for girls. The Qualification Awarding body has worked with over 1.2 million young people in the UK to develop them within sport and using sport.
The online qualification is a fully accredited learning programme consisting of six models that will support female leaders, 14 and above to:
- Understand existing barriers to participation for girls
- Identify what their female peers recognise as engaging competitive sport opportunities
- Lead an event or competition to provide those opportunities for female participants
SLQ is recruiting 75 schools to be part of the free-to-access three-year programme. Schools that express interest must be able to engage 6-10 female leaders who can facilitate competitive sport opportunities involving a minimum of 25 girls.
