Sport England has announced the launch of its Movement Fund, which is now open for applications. It is aimed at supporting community organisations impacted by recent storms. This fund is part of Sport England’s ongoing commitment to enhance physical activity across the country and tackle inequalities in access to sports and facilities.

The Movement Fund offers grants ranging from £300 to £15,000 for projects that promote physical activity and engage communities. Organisations eligible to apply include not-for-profit groups, registered charities, community interest companies, and statutory bodies.

The fund prioritises projects that help inactive individuals become more active and address disparities in sports participation among underrepresented groups, such as those living on low incomes, disabled individuals, older adults, and culturally diverse communities.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with Sport England advising applicants to submit their requests at least 12 weeks before funding is needed. The funding can be utilised for various purposes, including equipment purchases, facility upgrades, and emergency relief for damage caused by extreme weather events. However, it will not support ongoing operational costs or football-only projects.

This initiative reflects Sport England’s broader strategy to unite communities through sport and physical activity, ensuring that everyone can participate regardless of their background or circumstances.
