Sport Wales has allocated over £3 million to enhance community sports facilities and leisure centres. This funding will be used for various purposes, including making leisure centres more energy efficient, thus ensuring that activities remain affordable for all.
The investment aims to improve the accessibility of sport and physical activity for the community. Additionally, the organisation conducted research to understand the social and economic value of sport in Wales, using a framework called Social Return on Investment (SROI) to measure the wider social impact of sports.
The purpose of the funding from Sport Wales is to support and improve sports provision, participation, and performance in Wales. This includes providing support to individuals, clubs, and local authorities dedicated to enhancing sports facilities and promoting sports at the grassroots level.
Additionally, the funding supports projects that promote equality, sustainability, and innovation in sport, with grants ranging from £300 to £50,000.
