A collaboration with Active Partnerships, StreetGames, ukactive and Youth Sport Trust will open up school facilities outside of the school day. £57 million was awarded by the Department for Education to help schools open sports facilities in the places where it’s most needed.
The three-year Opening School Facilities Investment will be targeted in places where there are the most health and social inequalities. The aim is to enable better access to physical activity for communities where it is more challenging to be active.
Schools will be able to use the funds to buy new equipment, deliver new or additional clubs, and provide coaching qualifications or new coaching for clubs. Funding can also be used to open their school swimming pools and focus on valuable swimming and water safety lessons during and outside of the school day
