StreetGames has arranged for 500 Welsh young people to be at The Commonwealth Games this year. As part of the #Inspiration2022 initiative, StreetGames has provided funded day trips to The Commonwealth Games, to see the action in person.
Partnered with Sport Wales, youngsters will have the chance to support Welsh talent competing at the Games. Amongst those athletes competing are Welsh runner Melissa Courtney and boxer Rosie Eccles. With a view to improving their leadership skills, another group of young people will be experiencing the outdoors outside of the stadium. The aim is to develop a new and engaged understanding of how The Commonwealth Games works.
The #Inspiration2022 campaign will be providing similar opportunities for young people at other events this year. Sporting events such as the Rugby League World Cup, Wimbledon, and the UEFA Women’s Euro finals are the main contenders.
