A recent survey by ukactive reveals that millennials are prioritising health and fitness over other leisure activities. The survey found that millennials spending priorities include health and fitness/gym memberships (23%), savings (25%) and holidays (14%).

The survey of over 6,000 people showed that health and fitness spending is significantly higher than other leisure activities. Among the surveyed age groups, individuals aged 25 to 34 are leading this trend, spending almost four times more on fitness than eating out or drinking socially.

The research highlights a growing national trend towards prioritising long-term health. ukactive aims to increase gym membership from 10 million to 15 million by 2030. The organisation also notes significant health benefits of physical activity, including preventing 600,000 type 2 diabetes cases and 57,000 dementia cases annually.

Huw Edwards, ukactive’s CEO, emphasised the importance of finding enjoyable physical activities and called on the government to support fitness facilities to improve national health and economic productivity.
