The Sport and Recreation Alliance has announced its bid to increase diversity in the sports and activities sector. It has recently established the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) board subcommittee with a view to drive inclusion and fair treatment in its work across the sector.
The subcommittee includes two previous guests of The Drive Phase podcast. Representing the disabled activities sector is Barry Horne, the CEO of the Activity Alliance. Representing the alliance is the CEO of the organisation, Lisa Wainwright MBE, a veteran of sports national governing bodies.
Other members include:
- Chair Hamid Vaghefian, Head of Community Engagement at London Marathon Event
- Independent Member, Sunil Jindal, Regional Business Head at Diversio
- Board Representative Helene Raynsford, Paralympic Gold medallist and World Champion rower
The aim is for the subcommittee to advise the Alliance board on EDI matters that will help, promote, educate, and encourage a more equitable future for sport and recreation.
