He urged the government to utilise sectors like physical activity to support mental health, citing ukactive’s research showing 78% joined gyms to improve mental wellbeing.
Edwards stated physical activity prevents ill health and helps people return to work. He believes that the government should unlock the potential of the physical activity sector as outlined in the Get Active strategy to reduce economic inactivity. He called for a bold plan involving solutions like the sector rather than just systemic changes.
