New research by the Youth Sport Trust has found that physical activity in schools provides wellbeing benefits worth between £4.5bn and £9bn per year to the UK economy.
The study analysed the impact of physical activity on factors like mental health, obesity reduction, and improved life satisfaction. It found that increasing physical activity levels in schools leads to significant economic benefits by improving children’s physical and mental wellbeing, reducing healthcare costs, and boosting productivity later in life.
The findings highlight the importance of investing in physical activity opportunities within the school environment to promote healthy lifestyles and support children’s overall development.
