Our guest this episode is Robbie Simpson, Founder & Managing Director of Life After Professional Sport (LAPS).

He launched LAPS with the mission to fill the gap in support he found when his career as professional footballer seemed to be over.

Since launching, LAPS has grown to a full service platform with 5,000 current and ex-elite athlete members aged from 18 to 60.

Robbie is passionate about planning and brings his skills as a financial planning specialist and experience as a footballer to create an offer that supports athletes at a vulnerable time in their lives.

During the episode we discuss Robbie’s early life and career and how he has used his start up experience to launch and scale the organisation.

I pretty much had the best of both worlds, being paid to play for Cambridge and being a student.

I didn’t really think about life beyond football.

There wasn’t enough support, and something better needed to be put in place.

To maintain that elite fitness level for so long it’s hard. And it only gets tougher and tougher the longer you do it.

LAPS has always been my passion project, giving back or filling a void that I had that I don’t want others to go through or experience.
